Online classified ads are no different from ads you see in newspapers and magazines. It's easy! Just register at Equine-Trader.com for FREE and post your ad in an appropriate category. But that's not all! If you want your ad to get extra attention you may upgrade it by making it a Featured Classified, adding an Attention Getter, bolding or better placement. You may also want it in our printed publication - the "Equine Trader" where even more people would see your ad! All can be accomplished online through our easy to use submission forms.
No matter if you want to buy or sell in Equine-Trader.com you have to register. Don't worry! It's easy and can be FREE.
We just need some information about you so you get the best out of the services we provide.
To register click here or on the "Sign up for Free" link on the main page or on the login selection on drop down menu on the top of the site under Classified Seller then move to the login page and choose don't have an account.
From here the Registration process will guide you through creating an account by filling in the fields of the form. Only fields marked with * are required but filling in all fields give you better access to the features of our site (i.e. entering your telephone number will give your buyers or sellers the opportunity to contact you directly by phone; entering full address information will spare you time when you're asked about delivery address, etc.) When you're done entering the information, click the "Register me now" button near the bottom of the page. If everything is entered correctly and you've accepted the terms of service you'll receive an email with registration information (containing your user name and password) and with an account activation link .Clicking the link confirms that all users on this site have a valid e-mail address at the time of registration.
If there is a problem with the information collected the page will be redisplayed with the problem areas in red, correct the information and resubmit.
Note: It's not a good idea to keep information such as user names and passwords in your mailbox or in a safe place and don't tell it to anybody. Also see our Security Information section for more tips on online security.
When your Equine-Trader.com account is activated, you should receive a second email confirming your account is now set up and running.
When you have registered yourself as an user of Equine-Trader.com you can log in to the classified ads sections of our site. There are two different ways to do this.
1) You may Login using the login form on the left of the screen . Enter your user name and password and clicking the "Go!" button to get started.
OR
2) You may Login using the Login menu selection under the heading "Classified Seller" and then choosing login located at the top of all pages in the site.
3) Forgotten your password you may go to the login page and click the "Forgotten password" link. Your password will be sent to your email address specified when you registered.
After logging in you'll be taken to your account page. Here you may do various tasks such as editing ads, creating banners and flyers, upgrade or renew your expired items, you can find short descriptions of the links on your Account Page:
My active ads - lists all of your active ads. Here you may also:
- upgrade your ads (adding bold titles, attention getters, better placement or making them Hot.
- edit your ad (change ad title or description, add or delete images for it - click the edit button)
- delete your ad (if you think it's no longer needed just click the delete button next to your ad)
- mark your ad as "Sold" (click the mark as sold button next to the ad)
My expired ads - lists all of your ads that have expired. You may also renew them (for a limited time) or upgrade them.
My current information - edit the information you have provided when you registered to Equine-Trader
Place new ad - starts the process for placing a new ad.
Ad filters - sets your browsing filters. Limit the ads shown by a number of criteria, helps you zero in on ads of interest to you.
Favorites - view your list of favorite ads. As you browse through the ads you can mark the ones of interest, then if your interrupted or want to refine your search you can review only those of interest.
Communications - view your communication with other Equine-Trader.com buyers and sellers. Let you turn on or off what other see about your information.
Communication configuration - choose the way you want to communicate with other sellers and buyers at Equine-Trader.com - by email or by our communication system (thus not revealing your email to other users). **Note that we can't track your email communication.
Signs and flyers - create a printable version of your ads either as tear-off flyers or signs. Just choose the appropriate options for you and print out the page to hang in your arena, feed or tack store.
Classified ads posted to the Equine-Trader.com are organized into major categories. The right side of the page of the Classified Ads contains a link for each major category available on the system. When you click on a link, you are provided a list of subcategories on the main page with a count of the ads in that category. Click a subcategory link to enter that area of the site. You are then provided with a list of the current ads which are posted to that subcategory. When reviewing ads, you are provided with navigational menus which will lead to various areas of the site. Each classified ad detail page will provide links back to the home page, the major category and the subcategory where this classified ad is posted. You may click on the "Home" link in the navigational menu at any time to return to the opening page of the he Equine-Trader Classified Ads. There are several ways to browse the ads in Equine-Trader.com:
Normal Browsing in this mode you just choose categories and subcategories (either from the main Classifieds page or from the drop down menu on the left) and in each category you see the ads posted by the sellers.
Recent Ads is a way to check only newly added classifieds. From the top of the home page you may choose the period you want to view ads from (posted today, last week, last 2 weeks, etc.). When in this mode you may again choose categories and subcategories but you'll only see ads posted within the selected period of time. You may always return to normal browse mode by clicking the button on top of the main part.
Search Ads is very useful when you know what you are looking for. The easiest way to search through ads is to use the search box on top left of the screen (Just above the login box). You can enter an ad number from the paper or email.
Advanced Search - If you want a more complex search say for items within a certain price range you should go on down the page filling in criteria to narrow your search. Just select a category, wait for the page to reload, enter the words to be searched for and set the as many of the search options as needed. If anything isn't clear just click the question mark next to it to get a pop-up help.Here's a list of search options that can help you find specific ads meeting your search criteria entered:
By category - lets you choose which main categories to search.
Subcategories also - checks if you want the subcategories for the main category specified to be searched as well.
Search for - indicates the list of words you're looking for in the ads (click question mark next to that field for detailed description on search phrases).
Match whole words only / partial word match / search by id only - specifies whether you expect the whole keywords to be matched OR just match part of the keyword. You can also search for an item by its 'id' number assigned when registering at Equine-T rader.com.
Business / individual / either - indicates if you prefer the sellers to be companies or individuals or "either" if you don't care about who they are.
By price range - sets a minimum or/and maximum for the cost of the searched items. You may chose to set one of these fields or either of them.
By province - selects the province or state where the sellers you're searching for would be located.
When done entering the search criteria, press "Search" to browse the items that met your criteria. You may start a new search clearing all settings with the button at the bottom of the form. Good luck!
When you click on an ad title you'll be taken to the "Ad View" page for that ad. In this page you see ad title, description, id number and links to tasks related to that ad. The icons to the left of the ad description let you do the following things:
Contact Seller - allows you to send a message to the seller, either about buying the listed items, making a suggestion or asking about more information. Just write in your message and send it. (this works only when you're logged in)
Seller's Other Ads - lists all of other ads posted by this seller.
Tell a Friend - allows you to send an email about this ad to a friend of yours. Just fill in and send!
Add to Favorites - adds this ad to your list of favorites. You may use your Favorites list for keeping an eye on items you're interested in. You may also view it when you click the "My Favorites" link (visible only when you're logged in).
Map this Item - provides mapping information to the sellers location if entered. This is really useful when you're going to trade with someone personally. We use MapQuest.com for mapping the sellers address.
View Comments - See what other users think about this ad or its seller.
Post a Comment - Let others know what do you think about this ad or its seller. Just fill in the fields and set a rating. (You have to be logged in to comment).
Print This Ad - Loads a printable version of the ad in your browser. Just print it!
The Auto-notify Me feature gives you a powerful and time-saving tool to keep you up-to-date on the newest ads posted to the Equine-Trader web site. Using Auto-notify Me, you predefine specific search criteria for ads which may contain the information you have specified. For example, lets assume you are looking for a Quarter Horse Gelding for Barrel Racing. You are looking to purchase a horse, you could setup the Auto-Notify Me search criteria to notify you whenever an ad posted to the Equine-Trader web site containing the keywords Quarter Horse Gelding for Barrel Racing. If a new classified ad is posted which meets your criteria, you will receive an email providing you with a link to the new classified ad posted.
For best results using the Auto-notify Me feature, you should be specific in defining your keyword searches. This will minimize the amount email you receive but will provide you notice of classified ads which most closely match what you are looking for. You may delete any predefined Auto-notify Me searches by returning to the Auto-notify Me area and pressing the Delete Auto-notify icon on the right of your Auto-notify Me listing you have previously typed in under the first column (called Categories to Search.) You can have as many Auto-notify Me listing requests as you desire. It's like having a useful personal shopping assistant 24 hours a day!
After you find something you like and want to buy you'll only have to contact the seller. Open the ad for the item you want to buy. See the smiley holding an envelope near the top of the ad? Click it! You can then enter the message you want to send the seller in the contact form.
If the seller has provided his email address you may directly contact him by email. Note that Equine-Trader.com can not track email communication between sellers and buyers. Another way of contacting the seller is if he has provided his phone number.
Selling stuff is easy! Just log in and click the "Place a new ad" Just complete the few steps for setting details abut your ad:
1.Choose Category - just choose where does your stuff belong. Note that categories such as "Questions", "Announcements" and "Help Wanted" does NOT allow you to set a price for your ad!
When You choose the category you'll be asked to choose a subcategory or just post in the main category. Choose whatever is most appropriate for you and you'll be taken to the next page.
2.Ad Details - fill in the ad title, price, period, details and settings.
- After the price field is a drop down box where you may choose normal price, 'make an offer' (users would contact you and tell you how much they would pay for your items) or 'or best offer' (if you expect lots of interest in your ad you may set this option so you may sell your items to the buyer who offers the higher price).
- Note that if you have entered detailed information about yourself in your registration, the information will be automatically entered in the appropriate fields. You may edit it if you like.
- The mapping fields as described are used to allow buyers locate you through Map Quest.
- In the description field you may use the visual tools for formatting your text - use the buttons to add bold or italics text, change fonts, colors, sizes and alignment as you would in a normal text editor.
- You can also choose if you'd like to have your ad appear in our printed publication - the "Equine-Trader & Rural Routes Magazine". Note that printed ad title and description are entered in separate fields near the bottom of page and you are charged extra for it according to description length.
- When you're all done here just click the "Next" button.
3. Image Uploading - If you want you may provide images showing your items for sale. If the images are in your computer just click the first "Browse" button on this page and find your image file. Do so again if you'd like to put in more images. You may also enter short descriptions below each one of them. If you want to use images from the web enter their Url's inside the boxes on the left part of this page. Please start entering images from the first row. If you consider making your ad Hot be sure to upload at least one image. Finally click the "enter image information" button.
If you want no images click the "continue without providing images" button.
4.Approved - here you can view the summary of your ad and approve it or go back to a pervious step and change something. If it's OK just click the "Approve ad" button.
5. Transaction Details and Ad Extras - define the kind of extras you want your ad to have. Options are described next to their check boxes. Just turn on the ones you'd like to buy. Then select a payment method (also described in the page) and finally click "Calculate total" button.
6. Final Approval - see what options you've chosen for your ad along with their costs and a total of your fee. If you agree click the "Complete transaction" button to finish the ad placement process. If you'd like to change something you may return to any of the previous steps from the buttons below.Well, that's it!
You may now view your ad and await buyers to contact you according to the contact options you've chosen. Don't forget to delete or mark as sold your ad once you've sold the items. If it expires and you still haven't sold the items you may renew it. Also you may at any time upgrade your ad with attention getters, better placement, title bolding or make it Featured Classified. Call us if you would like to upgrade to a picture ad.
You are a seller? You want everybody to see your ad before the rest of them? There are several ways to get ahead of other sellers and be seen.
Picture Ad - By far the best way to get calls on any ad is to add a picture, people want to see what they are buying. Ads with no picture are skipped over time and time again in favor of the ads with picture.
Front Page Featured Classifieds - They are the 10 boxes displayed on the home page of the classifieds. They also appear in their category along with the rest of the ads. We use the newest front page classified ads in our Ezine that we email out to over 30,000 addresses. This gives you the best chance of being noticed by most buyers.
Category Featured Classifieds - you see them first when you enter a category. They are in a table above the normal ads with larger thumbnail images. Then again they appear in the category along with the rest of the ads. This gives you the next best chance of being noticed by most buyers.
Attention Getters - these are small signs added to your ad so it would stand out from the rest. There's a good selection of various texts for getting extra attention.
Title bolding - makes your ad title appear in bold text wherever its listed. That's another good way to make it be seen.
Better placement - wherever your ad is being listed it will appear near the top of the list ignoring the date sorting of the normal ads. This way your ad would be among the first few which the buyers notice when they open a category.
The best way to making your ad seen is combining as many of these options as you can. You may upgrade your ad with any of these at any time.Good luck!

What is JPG & GIF? - When you look at any file. You will notice it has 3 letters on the end. These 3 letters say what type of file it is. Very much like domain names do. If you see MYFILE.TXT you know by looking at the last 3 letters this is a TEXT file. Which means I can read this in notepad. Well JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG and more are picture files. Your next question will be why so many different ones? Well each one is made a little bit different. Some are better in cad programs and others for artists. When you see EXE or COM these are executable programs. Which means they run a program. Understanding what they mean just helps you to understand the files on your computer.
